Project Landustrie

Landustrie from Sneek is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of customer-specific products. They have chosen to use Merkato within the company. Standardization and a strong focus on the logistics process are characteristic of Landustrie.

Initially, Landustrie was looking for a product configurator to automatically generate CAD drawings for a couple of Engineering to Order products. However, it quickly became clear that Merkato has much more to offer, especially of great value in the quoting and calculation process.

Serious calculations are necessary for many of Landustrie’s products to arrive at the correct sizing and calculation. All Excel spreadsheets, VB tools, and calculation aids have been consolidated into the central knowledge database of Merkato.

The calculation of the correct structure now occurs in real-time in Merkato for four product groups. The Time-to-Quote has been reduced from many hours to minutes. For a couple of products, CAD models and drawings are also automatically generated. This has resulted in a saving of several days per order.

During the project, Landustrie took over a peer company. It was immediately decided to include the complete product range of this company in Merkato. This drastically shortened the time needed for the salespeople to get acquainted with the new products. Additionally, it was directly built into the configurator that common parts in the new and existing products were aligned. This results in enormous savings on logistics costs.

The bill of materials for the various modules is managed in ERP. The link between Merkato and the ERP system reads these to then send the order list along with the order back to ERP after configuration.

A fourth product line was launched during the Merkato project. The designer was tasked with filling Merkato in parallel with his technical design. Thanks to this approach, all dependencies were immediately visible, and a flexible CAD model naturally emerged from which variants are generated with Merkato. The quotation texts, manuals, and other documentation were also implemented directly in Merkato as an integral part of the design process. This progressive way of working fits exactly with Landustrie’s innovative vision.

The collaboration between Landustrie and Quootz has been experienced as very pleasant by both parties. The enthusiastic “Merkato team” at Landustrie has suggested several improvements, which have been made available in the standard software so that all customers of Quootz can benefit from them.
